A Canadian icon, reborn
In 1968, R. Huber & Co. of Toronto designed a lounge chair of such sculptural grace that it became a quiet icon of Canadian modernism. Its continuous curve, a single sweeping upholstered shell cradled in solid teak, captured the optimism and material honesty of an era.
The original is long out of production. Surviving pieces trade among collectors for thousands, but we didn't want that history locked behind glass. So we brought it back. The new Huber is solid black walnut or maple paired with a huge array of fabrics, crafted by Amish & Mennonite master craftsmen to your custom specification.
Built by hand in Ontario
Every Huber Scoop passes through three pairs of hands: the woodworker, the upholsterer, and the inspector. Each signs off on the piece before it ships.
Amish Quality
Every frame is built from scratch by Amish & Mennonite woodworkers.
Master Upholstery
Each shell gets upholstered at Kessels Upholstery, Ottawa's most respected workshop.
Guild-Certified
Each Scoop's frame & foam is lifetime guaranteed by the North American Upholstery Guild.
